Project Lala

Fundraising to support a humanitarian project in India

Hello everyone,

We are two students at the gymnase of Beaulieu in Lausanne, in second year of biology-chemistry and we have chosen for our maturity work to compare the health in India of 75 children from a slum with the health of 75 children from a private school.

Last March, we went to Jaipur in Rajasthan, to perform 4 tests (BMI, hemoglobin, vision and dental) with a medical team on the the spot. Given the results obtained, we decided to create a project named Lala (from the name of a little boy with allergy that particularly affected us), intended to provide essential medical care to seventy children from the slum, in particular, treatment against anemia and the supply of eyeglasses.

In addition, we met 6 kids who needed particular medical cares (allergies, cardiac problems, and so on ) ; reason why we are trying to raise money, selling kits, bags and aprons brought back from India and handcrafted by Dastkar, an association that brings together women from 3 villages in Sawai Madhopur area (Rajasthan) ; this activity allows them to avoid working in the fields, and to earn their own money (it doesn’t come back to the husband or the mother-in-law) and they can take their child on their work area.

If you want more information about this project, you can contact us at the following phone numbers and e-mail address:

Thank you for your support and we hope to meet you soon!
